Examples of D&I topics I like to speak about
In my keynotes I will always focus on what the group needs in that moment. No two groups are the same, so I always provide a tailored experience. Depending on the audience and context, I can discuss themes such as:
- Buy-in for inclusionHow do you create genuine commitment to D&I within organisations, so that it doesn't remain limited to isolated initiatives but becomes embedded in culture, policy and behavior.
- From intention to actionMany organizations have the right intentions, but don't know how to translate this into concrete steps. How do you go from nice words to tangible impact?
- Inclusive leadershipHow you can increase your own role and influence in intercultural interactions. What does it mean to speak authentically, without adhering yourself to dominant norms?
- Intercultural communication in practiceHow cultural differences influence communication, cooperation and misunderstandings, and how we can deal with those.
- Implicit biases and their impactWe all have prejudices/biases, but how do they influence who we hire, who we trust, and who we give opportunities to? How can we recognise and counter these biases?
- The effects of belonging to a minority groupThink of code-switching, balancing various expectations and the invisible burdens this causes.
